Folkadelphia is a Philadelphia-located folk organization devoted to music, art, and culture.

In this day and age of near unlimited and immediate accessibility to artistic content through the internet, especially with regard to music, genre classifications and delineations have at once become less meaningful and more important. In our mind, what remains important is understanding the roots, traditions, and rich & varied history of folk music while incorporating, interpreting, and manipulating these aspects in new, interesting ways. Our mission is to give a platform and megaphone to artists who are keeping an eye on the past while forging a path into the future.

We host a regular weekly radio program on Philadelphia’s WXPN each Wednesday from 10-11 PM ET. Find out more information here. The most recent episode is archived here.

Our Folkadelphia Sessions can be found here and the audio archive lives here.

Main communications by Fred Knittel.
